Jonathan Groff Will Tap His Way Into MCC Theater's Miscast Gala

Tony Award nominee Jonathan Groff, who was recently seen Off-Broadway in The Submission, will be part of MCC Theater's 2012 Miscast gala, Playbill.com has learned.
The "Glee" and Spring Awakening star was photographed with tap shoes on in an early rehearsal for the Miscast event, which will take place March 26, 2012, at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Representatives for MCC Theater confirmed Groff's participation to Playbill.com.
The annual gala gathers Broadway stars to perform songs from shows and roles in which they'd never be cast. Additional talent for the 2012 Miscast gala will be announced at a later date.
Previous participants include Norbert Leo Butz, Faith Prince, Cheyenne Jackson, Raúl Esparza, Kelli O'Hara, Brian D'Arcy James, Steven Pasquale, Jane Krakowski, Jesse L. Martin. Helen Mirren, Chris Noth, Judith Light, Piper Perabo, Ian McShane, Edward Albee, Kathleen Turner, Julianna Margulies, Lynn Redgrave, Charles Busch, Rosemarie DeWitt, Billy Baldwin, Jerry Stiller, Elizabeth Ashley, Mo Rocca, Isaac Mizrahi, and many more.
Groff recently starred in MCC Theater's world premiere of Jeff Talbott's biting comedy The Submission. He received a Tony Award nomination for originating the role of Melchior in the Tony-winning rock musical Spring Awakening. His stage appearances also include Deathtrap, The Bacchae, The Singing Forest, In My Life, Hair and Prayer for My Enemy. His films include "Taking Woodstock," "The Conspirator" and "Twelve Thirty." Groff is also a recurring cast member on the hit Fox series "Glee."
