Jonathan Walker, Kirk Jackson, Quincy Dunn Baker and More Will Fall Into Dorset Theatre Festival's Deathtrap

The Dorset Theatre Festival will conclude its 2012 season with the company's "Murder and Mayhem" series, which kicks off with Ira Levin's Deathtrap Aug. 16 at the Dorset Playhouse.

DTF resident director Giovanna Sardelli will helm the production, which continues through Sept. 1.

The cast features Jonathan Walker (20th Century, After the Fall) as Sidney, Amelia White (DTF's Boeing-Boeing) as Myra, Quincy Dunn Baker (Wildflower at Second Stage) as Clifford Anderson, Antoinette LaVecchia (DTF's The Pavillion) as Helga and Kirk Jackson (Love! Valour! Compassion!) as Porter Pilgrim. Opening night is set for Aug. 17.

The play, according to DTF, "offers a rare and skillful blending of two priceless theatrical ingredients: gasp-inducing thrills and spontaneous laughter. The plot follows the story of unknown dramatist Clifford Anderson who has sent his new thriller to award-winning Broadway author Sidney Bruhl for comment... or has he...? Without a success to his credit for some years, Sidney plots with his reluctant wife Myra about how best to plagiarize Deathtrap and when Clifford turns up to discuss the play, events take a sinister turn."

The long-running Broadway production of Deathtrap was nominated for four 1978 Tony Awards, including Best Play. The comedy-thriller was recently revived in the West End.

Other members of the creative team include set designer Debra Booth, costume designer Barbara Bell, lighting designer and producing director Michael Giannitti and sound designer Jill DuBoff. The Dorset Playhouse is located at 104 Cheney Road in Dorset, VT. For more information and tickets, call (802) 867-2223 or visit
