As previously reported, the musical based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen" features music by Avenue Q and Book of Mormon Tony winner Robert Lopez and his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez ("Winnie the Pooh," Up Here, In Transit). Tony Award winner Stephen Oremus ( Kinky Boots, The Book of Mormon) has arranged some of the music in the film.
Tony Award nominee Jonathan Groff ( Spring Awakening, The Submission, "Glee") will voice the role of "mountain man" Kristof, with Tony Award winner Idina Menzel ( Wicked, Rent) as the Snow Queen and Kristen Bell ("Reefer Madness," "Heroes") as Anna.
Chris Buck (" Tarzan," "Surf's Up") directs the computer-animated film that has a script by Jennifer Lee ("Wreck-It Ralph") and is produced by Peter Del Vecho ("Winnie the Pooh," "The Princess and the Frog").
"Frozen" will be released Nov. 27.
Here's how Disney characterizes the film: "In 'Frozen,' a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, so Anna (Bell) must team up with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, on the grandest of journeys to find the Snow Queen (Menzel) and put an end to the icy spell. Encountering Everest-like extremes, mystical creatures and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction."
