The George C. Wolfe-Savion Glover tap extravaganza Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk , will bring down 'da curtain on its Broadway run Jan. 10, 1999.
The musical will have played 18 previews and 1,130 performances at the Ambassador Theatre. Glover recently returned to the show, tapping through its last 40 performances. He'd left the musical in July 1997.
The show has been playing at the Ambassador Theatre since Apr. 25, 1996, following a sold-out, three-month engagement at the Public Theater Off Broadway, Nov. 3, 1995-Jan. 28, 1996.
As a result of the Public's decision to close the show, the producers of the upcoming revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, which was to open at the Longacre Theatre in early 1999, decided to jump on the vacant Ambassador instead. Charlie Brown will begin performances Jan. 23, 1999.
Noise/Funk celebrated its 1,000th performance on Broadway Sept. 24, 1998. Glover is currently working on a musical project about the Harlem Globetrotters, as well as projects with his dance group, NYOT (Not Your Ordinary Tappers).
