Toni Collette and Michael C. Hall
Here's Playbill.com's weekly "Last Chance" reminder to catch Broadway, Off-Broadway and world-premiere productions before they take a final bow.
Concluding July 6
The Realistic Joneses (Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre). The Broadway premiere of playwright Will Eno's The Realistic Joneses stars Michael C. Hall, Toni Collette, Marisa Tomei and Tracy Letts. Here's how the play is billed: "In The Realistic Joneses, we meet Bob and Jennifer and their new neighbors, John and Pony, two suburban couples who have even more in common than their identical homes and their shared last names. As their relationships begin to irrevocably intertwine, the Joneses must decide between their idyllic fantasies and their imperfect realities. This contemporary comedy explores how our joys and sorrows – and how we choose to face them – can come to define our lives." Visit TheRealisticJoneses.com.
Much Ado About Nothing (Off-Broadway at the Delacorte Theater). Lily Rabe and Hamish Linklater co-star as would-be lovers Beatrice and Benedick, respectively, in The Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park production of Much Ado About Nothing, which also features Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell (Don Pedro), Tony winner John Glover (Leonato), Steel Burkhardt (Balthasar), Austin Durant (Friar Francis, Sexton), David Manis (Antonio, Verges), Kathryn Meisle (Ursula), Ismenia Mendes (Hero), John Pankow (Dogberry), Pedro Pascal (Don John), Eric Sheffer Stevens (Borachio), Zoë Winters (Margaret), Matt Bittner, Alex Breaux, Paco Lozano and Matthew Russell. According to the Public, Rabe and Linklater are "wise-cracking, would-be lovers Beatrice and Benedick in the beloved romantic comedy. Central Park becomes sun-drenched Sicily at the turn of the last century, where the heat of summer ignites the fevered passions of lovesick ladies in corsets and pining gentlemen spying from the verandah. Three-time Tony winner Jack O'Brien directs this delightful skirmish of wit between two self-declared bachelors tricked by their mischief-making friends into falling in love against their will and in spite of their own hearts."
