LATW's Lips Together, Teeth Apart to Feature Kristen Johnston, Steven Weber and Amy Pietz
20 Nov 2012
Kristen Johnston and Steven Weber will co-star in the L.A. Theatre Works production of Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally's Lips Together, Teeth Apart, which will begin Dec. 6 at the James Bridges Theater.
Johnston ("3rd Rock from the Sun," The Women) and Weber ("Jeffrey," "Wings") will be joined by Amy Pietz ("Private Practice," "The Office") for the production that will run through Dec. 9. Bart DeLorenzo will direct.
All LATW performances are recorded and broadcast on LATW's nationally syndicated radio theatre series, "The Play's the Thing."
Here's how it's billed: "In a Fire Island beach house, a brother and sister and their respective spouses gather to celebrate the Fourth of July. With food, cocktails, fireworks and stinging barbs, they fortify themselves against their individual anxieties—and their gay neighbors partying in the houses on either side."

Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
