The Oregon Shakespeare Festival presents a reading of Head Over Heels, a new musical by Avenue Q Tony winner Jeff Whitty that features the music of The Go Go's, May 19.

Directed by Ed Sylvanus Iskandar with musical direction by Carmel Dean, the reading features the talents of Laura Osnes, Merwin Foard, Conrad Ricamora, Max Von Essen, Angel Desai, Arielle Jacobs, Amber Iman and Bonnie Milligan with Mili Diaz, Kerri George, Joelle Lurie, Kaye Tuckerman, John Michael Lyles, Toren Nakamura, Tim Wright and Ned Riseley.

The musical, which has a script by Whitty and music and lyrics by The Go Go’s, was inspired by Philip Sidney’s Arcadia and is described as a "rollicking, comedic adventure tale, set in the Elizabethan period."

The Go Go’s recently said in a statement, “We’ve been huge fans of Jeff Whitty’s work since Avenue Q. We fell in love with Jeff’s hilarious script from the first time we read it—it’s so unexpected and perfect for the joyful spirit of our band! We are thrilled and honored that our music will be a part of this Oregon Shakespeare Festival world premiere.”

The reading is produced by Jacob Porter.

Head Over Heels will receive its world premiere during the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s 2015 season.
