Crawford made her Broadway debut in Billy Elliot. Read the recent Playbill magazine feature about Crawford.
The new Broadway revival of the 1977 Tony Award-winning musical about a Depression-era orphan who becomes the guest of a billionaire opened Nov. 8 at the Palace Theatre. James Lapine directs the show written by Martin Charnin, Charles Strouse and Thomas Meehan.
Crawford, who uses a street-tough, Noo Yawk accent as Annie for this production, is originally from California, where she saw a touring production of Annie (twice).
"I remember that after the show, when the girl who played Annie walked out of the stage door and everyone was like, 'Woo!,' and she was signing all these autographs," Crawford told Playbill.com earlier this fall. "I thought that was so cool. I don't know why; I was like, 'I wish that could be me someday.'"
The cast also includes Anthony Warlow as Oliver Warbucks, Katie Finneran as Miss Hannigan, Clarke Thorell as Rooster, Brynn O'Malley as Warbucks' personal assistant, Grace Farrell and J. Elaine Marcos as Rooster's girlfriend Lily St. Regis.
