Once Upon a Time in New York City, a benefit concert featuring new material from emerging songwriters celebrating the city of New York, will be offered Oct. 14 at Joe's Pub.

For the 9:30 PM concert, which will benefit The Actors Fund, musical theatre writers — ages 19-90 who were born everywhere from Kansas City to San Francisco to Montreal — will write a song about someone who has changed their idea of New York City.

Contributing composers include Danny Abosch, Gaby Alter, Jake Brandman, Nick Cearley, David Dabbon, Zina Goldrich, Adam Gwon, Paul Scott Goodman, Marcy Heisler, Caleb Hoyer, Joe Iconis, Michael R. Jackson, Galt MacDermot, Julia Mattison, Lauren Molina, Tim Murphy, Ryan Scott Oliver, Willem Oosthuysen, Bill Russell, Dick Scanlan, Charles Strouse and Zack Zadek.

Once Upon a Time will feature performances from Grace Capeless (A Christmas Story, The Musical), Cearley (The Skivvies), Katrina Rose Dideriksen (The Pregnancy Pact, Bloodsong of Love), Cait Doyle (Hot Mess In Manhattan), Goodman (writer of Rooms, Bright Lights Big City), Gwon (writer of Ordinary Days, The Boy Detective Fails), Molly Hager (Fat Camp), Jaclyn Huberman (I Love You Because), Carly Hughes (Ghost, Ragtime), Iconis (writer of The Black Suits, Bloodsong of Love), Jay Armstrong Johnson (Hands on a Hardbody, Hair), Alyse Alan Louis (Mamma Mia!, Xanadu), Lauren Marcus (The Pregnancy Pact, ReWrite), Gaten Matarazzo (Priscilla Queen Of The Desert), Mattison (Godspell), Lindsay Mendez (Dogfight, Godspell), Molina (Marry Me A Little, Sweeney Todd), Kate Rockwell (Bring It On, Legally Blonde), Nic Rouleau (The Book Of Mormon, Legally Blonde), Russell (writer of The Last Smoker In America, Side Show) and Strouse (writer of Annie, Bye Bye Birdie), among others.
