Lucie Arnaz Will Star in North Shore 9 to 5 The Musical
14 Aug 2012
Lucie Arnaz, who starred in the late Marvin Hamlisch's They're Playing Our Song, will play the role of Violet Newstead in the North Shore Music Theatre's upcoming production of 9 to 5 The Musical.
Directed and choreographed by Richard Stafford, performances are scheduled to play the Massachusetts venue Sept. 25-Oct. 7.
Arnaz will be joined by George Dvorsky as Franklin Hart, Jr. and Kathy St. George as Roz. Additional casting will be announced.
9 to 5 The Musical is based on the film of the same name and features Dolly Parton’s original hit title song along with her Tony Award and Grammy-nominated score.
Featuring a book by Patricia Resnick (co-writer of the original screenplay), 9 to 5 The Musical, according to press notes, "tells the story of three unlikely friends who conspire to take control of their company and learn there’s nothing they can’t do — even in a man’s world."
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
