"Mad Men" and Broadway Star Bryan Batt to Play 54 Below in June
15 May 2013
Bryan Batt will bring his acclaimed cabaret Batt on a Hot Tin Roof, a musical evening that takes audiences along with the performer on his journey from New Orleans to Broadway and Hollywood, to 54 Below for two performances in June.
Directed by Dann Fink and featuring musical direction of Michael Lavine, Batt on a Hot Tin Roof will play the plush nightlife venue June 15 at 8:30 PM and June 16 at 7 PM.
"Don't let the title fool you. I never appear on stage in pajamas, [with] a crutch, holding a tumbler of whiskey!" Batt told Playbill.com.
Batt has won two Screen Actor Guild Awards for his portrayal of Salvatore Romano in the hit series “Mad Men." Among his nine Broadway appearances are Sunset Boulevard, Saturday Night Fever, The Scarlet Pimpernel and La Cage aux Folles.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
