Mahaiwe Center to Welcome Barbara Cook, Faith Prince and More
28 Mar 2012
Tony Award winners Barbara Cook and Faith Prince are on the bill for the summer season at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington, MA.
Highlights for theatre fans include the "Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music," which will be screened July 14 at 7 PM.
Tony winner Prince (Guys and Dolls, A Catered Affair) will offer her latest solo evening, Total Faith, July 21 at 8 PM. The concert promises songs by Harold Arlen, Menken and Ashman, Stephen Sondheim, Kander and Ebb, Rodgers and Hart, and Jerry Herman.
Broadway legend Cook (The Music Man, Candide) will be joined by John Pizzarelli for a special evening of song on Aug. 4 at 8 PM.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
