Oona Laurence, who received a Special Tony Award for her performance as the precocious title character in Matilda The Musical, will appear in the independent film "Lamb," Deadline.com reports.
The film adaptation of Bonnie Nadzam's debut novel was written and is directed by Ross Partridge.
Partridge will star as David Lamb, a man on a road trip from Chicago to the Rockies on a mission of self-discovery after his father dies and his marriage ends.
Laurence will play an 11-year-old girl named Tommie, who is described as awkward and unpopular and whom David is determined to help. Jess Weixler ("The Good Wife," "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby") is also featured in the cast.
Laurence has appeared in "A Little Game," "Louie" and "The Grief of Others." Partridge co-created the web series "Wedlock," starring Rob Corddry, with Mark Duplass.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
