Tony Award-nominated "Glee" star Matthew Morrison offers a Nov. 16 solo concert at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford, CT. The evening will be filmed by PBS for future airing.
The 7:30 PM concert features Morrison backed by an orchestra conducted by Chris Walden. It takes place in the Maxwell and Ruth Belding Theater.
The concert promises standards, favorites and holiday music. Songs from Morrison's Broadway career are also expected.
Morrison's concert will be filmed by CPTV for PBS. It will air nationally on PBS in March 2013, but a special Christmas/holiday version of the concert will air on PBS in December 2013.
Morrison received a Tony nomination for his work in The Light in the Piazza and also appeared on Broadway in South Pacific, Hairspray, A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, The Rocky Horror Show and Footloose. On "Glee," he plays high school show-choir director and Spanish teacher Will Schuester.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
