Hines (Guys and Dolls, Hot Feet) directs, choreographs and hosts the 90-minute revue that plays three performances Feb. 18, 22 and 23 at the Apollo. The theatre's orchestra seats have been removed and nightclub table seating has been installed throughout, with table service and dancing during the performance.
Performers include Grammy Award-winning jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater, jazz performer Cecile Salvant, street dancer Storyboard P and tap dancer Dormeshia, backed by a cast of dancers and musicians.
"The Apollo is a legendary force in the entertainment industry and has been such a big part of my career. So I'm excited to be bringing in an unbelievably talented cast of performers who will help the audience reimagine the theatre's grand history," Hines said in an earlier statement. "This will be a fast-paced show, and because it will be set like a nightclub, the audience will be right in the center of all the action and will be swept up in the thrill of it all."
Hines and his brother, late actor and tap dancer Gregory Hines, both got their start at the Harlem venue when they were children.
