Megan Hilty and Marin Mazzie Will Be Special Guests at New York Philharmonic's An Enchanted Evening with Paulo Szot
30 Apr 2013
The New York Philharmonic will present An Enchanted Evening with Paulo Szot June 4 at Avery Fisher Hall.
South Pacific Tony winner Szot will be joined by Broadway and "Smash" star Megan Hilty and three-time Tony nominee Marin Mazzie. Tony winner Ted Sperling will conduct the orchestra.
The 7:30 PM concert will feature songs and duets by Ibert and Jobim; selections from theatrical hits by Lerner & Loewe, including highlights from My Fair Lady and Camelot; and the evening’s title song, “Some Enchanted Evening,” from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific.
“I am thrilled to return to the New York Philharmonic with this very special concert,” said Szot in a statement. “We have planned an evening of some of my favorite music from many different genres: from Broadway to Brazilian to classical. I hope you will enjoy this music as much as I know I will enjoy performing it for you.”
This one-evening event is the New York Philharmonic’s Spring Gala benefit. For information about the Gala, which includes a pre-concert champagne reception, concert and post-concert seated dinner with the artists, contact Jennifer Levine at email@example.com or call her at (212) 875-5757. The 90-minute concert will be performed without an intermission.
Tickets start at $49. All tickets may be purchased online at nyphil.org or by calling (212) 875-5656.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
