Memorial for Broadway Stage Manager Neveen Mahmoud to Be Held Jan. 2
31 Dec 2013
Members of the theatre community will gather Jan. 2, 2014, to remember Broadway and The Book of Mormon national tour stage manager Neveen Mahmoud.
Mahmoud, who was born June 10, 1976, died unexpectedly Dec. 21 at the age of 37. In addition to her work on the second national tour of The Book of Mormon, Mahmoud served as assistant stage manager for the Broadway productions of Lysistrata Jones, The Color Purple, Gem of the Ocean, Mamma Mia! and the Tony Award-winning revival of La Cage aux Folles.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
