Michael Counts Will Join 3-Legged Dog Theatre Company
03 Jan 2014
Director and visual artist Michael Counts will join avant-garde theatre company 3-Legged Dog — specializing in immersive shows and combining live performance and video — as creative director of the 3LD Special Projects Group, according to the New York Times.
Counts' responsibilities will include "overseeing commissioned projects and directing and designing large-scale events and installations. He will also work with Kevin Cunningham, the company's executive artistic director, on new productions and on projects meant to expand 3-Legged Dog's international profile."
"When I first built 3LD Art & Technology Center and created our resource and production model, I was thinking of Michael Counts and artists like him whose talent and ambitious standards for cutting-edge works require time, space and proper resources to be fully realized," said Cunningham in a statement. "Michael will play a key leadership role as the company builds this new balanced revenue model. He will also contribute directly to our artistic programming and help us continue to drive toward the highest quality standards for our productions."
Counts is creator of "The Ride," the immersive theatrical tour of New York City.
