02 Oct 2012
Midnight Tango, a dance show featuring Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace of TV's "Strictly Come Dancing," is to return to the West End, beginning a five-week season at the Phoenix Theatre Jan. 30, 2013, prior to an official opening Feb. 4, before launching its third national tour.
Previously seen in the West End at the Aldwych Theatre earlier this year, it is produced by Adam Spiegel and Arlene Phillips, directed by Karen Bruce, choreographed by Simone and Cacace, designed by Morgan Large and lit by James Whiteside. The live music will be provided by tango band, Tango Siempre, featuring vocalist Miguel Angel.
After its West End return season, it will commence a new national tour at Eastbourne's Congress Theatre March 13, then visit Norwich, Woking, Southend, Bath, Nottingham, High Wycombe, Birmingham, Newcastle, Truro, Cardiff, Hull, Northampton, Canterbury, Manchester and Leeds.
Set in a late-night bar in downtown Buenos Aires, it is described in press materials as "a journey into the heart of this intoxicating city, as danger and excitement, joy and jealousy, pain and passion combine into a spectacular and explosive evening."

Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
