Mike Birbiglia Will Thank God For Jokes at BAM Sept. 5

Award-winning comedian, actor and filmmaker Mike Birbiglia will return to BAM Sept. 5 at 8 PM with his new show Thank God for Jokes, a painfully awkward evening of, "stories about jokes, and the trouble they incite."
Brooklyn native Birbiglia won the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show for his acclaimed My Girlfriend's Boyfriend and in 2012 he directed and starred in a film of his acclaimed one man show, "Sleepwalk With Me," which opened BAMcinemaFest that year.
According to press notes, Birbiglia's Thank God For Jokes, goes, "from being arrested in New Jersey, to screamed at by a famous director, to heckled by Muppets Statler and Waldorf, to being attacked by zombie rodents."
The one night only performance will take place at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House (30 Lafayette Ave). Tickets are $35 and go on sale Aug. 7.
