Mr. Wright entered the entertainment field as both publicist and personal manager in 1986. He worked for many years at Shirley Herz and Associates, for clients like The Theatre for a New Audience and Primary Stages, and for a time was with Lincoln Center Theater, before he struck out on his own in 2001 and formed Miller Wright and Associates. While he represented his share of stage shows, he made a specialization of the more rarified world of cabaret. He represented the tony east side cabaret Feinstein's at the Regency during its existence. The boite hosted everyone from Barbara Cook to Cy Coleman to its namesake, pianist-singer Michael Feinstein.
Individual artists he represented included cabaret greats like Cleo Laine, George Shearing, Rosemary Clooney, Maude Maggart, Barbara Carroll, John Pizzarelli, and Keely Smith; and Broadway stars who dabbled regularly in cabaret like Chita Rivera, Judy Kuhn, Andrea Marcovicci, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Patti LuPone. For 15 years, he worked with singer Ann Hampton Callaway.
He also worked on the publicity and media promotions for the 2001 Tony Awards.
Miller Wright was born June 26, 1954, in Jacksonville, FL, the son of Joe Miller Wright and Jean Adams Wright, both native Kentuckians.
He is survived by sisters Joni Wright Demera and Linda Croner and half-sister Heidi Barringer.
