Directed by Spiro Veloudos, the limited engagement continues through Feb. 2, 2013.

Here's how Lyric Stage bills the work: "A mother coming to terms with her daughter. A composer coming to terms with his genius. Separated by 200 years, these two people share an obsession that transcends the boundaries of time. Moisés Kaufman (The Laramie Project, Gross Indecency) has written an extraordinary play about passion, parenthood, and the moments of beauty that can transform life."

Plum, who stars as Dr. Katherine Brandt, is joined by James Andreassi as Beethoven, Kelby T. Akin as Mike Clark, Maureen Keiller as Dr. Gertrude Ladenburger, Will McGarrahan as Anton Diabelli, Dakota Shepard as Clara Brandt and Victor L. Shopov as Anton Schindler with pianist Catherine Stornetta.

The creative team includes Cristina Todesco (scenic design), Charles Schoonmaker (costume design), Karen Perlow (lighting design), Brendan Doyle (sound design) and Shawn Boyle (projection design).
