Monty Python Live Adds Five Extra Shows at London's O2 Arena in July 2014; Tix On Sale Nov. 29
27 Nov 2013
Monty Python Live, the event that reunites the surviving members of the Monty Python comedy group — John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin — live for the first time since they were seen at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl in 1980, has added five further dates.
After initially announcing that they would play London's O2 Arena July 1, 2014, tickets sold out in a record 43.5 seconds. A further four extra dates (July 2-5) went on sale immediately and sold out soon afterwards.
Now they have added five more dates, July 15-16, 18-20, for which tickets will go on sale Nov. 29 at 10 AM (UK time).
In a press statement, John Cleese commented, "The response to our planned reunion has been very, very silly. But, we're all touched that so many fans still want to see such old people perform. So we're delighted to be adding more dates to the run at the O2."
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
