Complete casting has been announced for UnsungMusicals' production of the 1948 revue Make Mine Manhattan, which will feature the previously announced Greg Reuter and Bret Shuford.
Newly added to the cast are Nicolas Dromard (Wicked, Mary Poppins), Nadine Isenegger (42nd Street, Pal Joey), Gabrielle Ruiz (In the Heights, A Chorus Line), LaQuet Sharnell (Lysistrata Jones, Memphis) and Kristen J. Smith (South Pacific, An American in Paris).
They join Reuter (Spamalot, Shrek), Shuford (South Pacific, The Little Mermaid) and Dennis O’Bannion (White Christmas).
Ben West will stage the revised production that will played a limited, three-week run March 1-17 at the Connelly Theatre. It officially opens March 4.
The staging will restore previously cut dialogue and songs, including "I Gotta Have You," "New York Gal," "Old Fashioned Girl" and "Please Take It Back."
Make Mine Manhattan is described as "a loving send-up of New York City's most infamous borough. Struggling actors, disgruntled theatre critics and hapless out-of-towners all bite the Big Apple in this sparkling entertainment."
The production will have choreography by Rommy Sandhu, musical direction and arrangements by Fran Minarik, lighting design by Joe Hodge and costume design by Martin T. Lopez.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
