25 Jun 2014
Tony winner and television star Neil Patrick Harris' (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) "Choose Your Own Autobiography" book, where readers get to navigate NPH's life in choose-your-own-adventure style, has released an excerpt now available online before a full October publication date.
The excerpt guides readers through the first stages of Harris' life, starting with the sentence, "You, Neil Patrick Harris, are born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on June 15, 1973. You think you’re at St. Joseph’s Hospital, but you aren’t certain because you can’t read the sign."
It offers readers a 29 page preview of what's to come, leaving NPH's fate up to them, and ending up with either a confrontation with actor Scott Caan outside a nightclub or finding Harris happy and successful with two children.
The excerpt is available online at Scribd (or on the Scribd mobile app), or via text file or PDF.

Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
