Based on the successful long-running Provincetown production of the revue, the cast features Jon-Paul Mateo (Broadway’s The Wedding Singer), Russell Peck, Ryan Obermeier, David (Bryant) San Angelo, Ricky Schroeder, Seph Stanek and Christopher Trepinski. Alex Ringler (Broadway’s West Side Story, A Chorus Line) choreographs.
Naked Boys Singing! originally opened July 22, 1999, at the Actors Playhouse and played a total of 3,069 performances at various venues around the city, including New World Stages, Theatre 4, The John Houseman Theater, the 47th Street Theatre and the Julia Miles Theatre.
It was conceived by Robert Schrock, who with a team of 12 writers — Stephen Bates, Marie Cain, Perry Hart, Shelly Markham, Jim Morgan, David Pevsner, Rayme Sciaroni, Mark Savage, Ben Schaechter, Trance Thompson, Mark Winkler and two-time Emmy Award winner Bruce Vilanch — penned the production. The musical's score includes such numbers as "Fight the Urge," "The Bliss of a Bris," "Muscle Addiction," "Nothing But the Radio On," "Members Only" and "Window to Window."
A 2007 film version, co-directed by Robert Schrock and Troy Christian, features Jason Currie, Kevin Stea, Joe Souza, Joseph Keane, Phong Truong, Salvatore Vassallo, Andrew Blake James, Anthony Manough, Jaymes Hodges, and original stage cast member Vincent Zamora.
