Blanchett won the Oscar for her role in "The Aviator" and has been nominated for three additional Academy Awards. Her film credits include "Blue Jasmine," "Elizabeth," "The Lord of the Rings," "Babel," "Notes on a Scandal" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."
She will make her directorial debut with the film adaptation of the Herman Koch's novel "The Dinner."
Most recently seen in New York in Uncle Vanya, Blanchett's stage work includes Oleanna, A Streetcar Named Desire, Hedda Gabler and The Seagull. Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton served as artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company from 2008-13. Upton currently is the sole artistic director.
The New York Film Festival will also honor two-time Oscar nominee Ralph Fiennes Oct. 9.
