The award-winning Broadway musical Newsies has announced that a limited number of tickets will be available via lottery July 28-Aug. 23 at The Nederlander Theatre. The production, as previously reported, will end its Broadway run Aug. 24.

Entries will be accepted at the Nederlander box office Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 4:30 PM; Tuesday evenings at 5:30 PM; Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 10:30 AM; and Sunday matinees at 11:30 AM.

Names will be drawn at random 30 minutes following the start of entries being accepted. Winners may purchase up to two $30 tickets with cash only to that day’s performance. Winners must be present at the time of the drawing and show valid ID to purchase tickets. Tickets are subject to availability.

The Broadway company currently features Corey Cott as Jack Kelly, John Dossett as Joseph Pulitzer, Liana Hunt as Katherine Plumber, Ben Fankhauser as Davey, Capathia Jenkins as Medda, Andy Richardson as Crutchie and Luca Padovan and Zachary Unger alternating the role of Les.

"Set in New York City at the turn of the century," Newsies, press notes state, "is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged ‘newsies,’ who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right."

Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, with a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, Newsies is directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, who won a 2012 Tony Award for his work.

The Newsies North American tour launches in October and will play 25 cities over 43 weeks during the 2014-15 season. For itinerary and ticket information, visit NewsiesTheMusical.com/Tour, Facebook.com/Newsies and Twitter.com/Newsies.
