The production will play a limited holiday engagement at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, according to the New York Times. Performances will begin in November and continue through New Year's Day.
Will Ferrell starred in the 2003 film " Elf" about an oversized elf raised in the North Pole who arrives in the United States to find his true identity.
No casting has been announced for the Broadway run, although Christian Anderson ( High Fidelity, Avenue Q) has played the Ferrell role in a previous reading.
