Ben Nordstrom and Tari Kelly will discuss basketball and office politics in the Burt Bacharach-Hal David musical Promises, Promises, which will begin July 16 at Stages St. Louis.

Nordstrom will play Chuck Baxter, an office worker on the rise with a conveniently located apartment. Kelly will portray lovesick secretary Fran. Michael Hamilton will direct the production that reflects the original 1968 version of the musical that has a score by Bacharach and David, and a book by Tony Award-winning playwright Neil Simon. Performances will run through Aug. 15.

Promises, Promises will also feature Richard Pruitt (Dr. Dreyfuss), Michael Halling (J.D. Sheldrake), Patrick Martin (Karl Kubelik), Edward Juvier (Mr. Dobitch), April Strelinger (Sylvia Gilhooley), David Schmittou (Mr. Kirkeby), Ellen Isom (Ginger), John Flack (Mr. Eichelberger), Lisa M. Ramey (Vivien Della Hoya), Darrel Blackburn (Jesse Vanderhof), Abbey Elliott (Miss Kreplinski/Miss Polansky), Maria Tholl (Company Nurse/Helen Sheldrake), Borris York (Company Doctor), Kari Ely (Peggy Olson), Nic Thompson (Waiter), Mark Roland (Bartender Eugene), Sarah Staker (Ms. Ross), Brandi Wooten (Marge MacDougall), Andrew Laudel, Borris York and Lisa Campbell Albert.

Here's how Stages St. Louis describes the show: "Adapted from Billy Wilder’s 1960 Oscar-winning film 'The Apartment,' Promises, Promises focuses on a rising executive, Chuck Baxter, who tries to curry favor with his superiors by letting them borrow his apartment for romantic trysts. Set in the Mad Men era of Manhattan’s Madison Avenue, Promises, Promises remains slick, hip and timeless."

The first Broadway revival of Promises, Promises is currently playing the Broadway Theatre starring Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth. The production earned a 2010 Tony Award nomination for Best Revival. The original 1968 production was Tony nominated for Best Musical.
