According to the producers, "The musical recounts his many accomplishments and milestones at the helm of America's most famous football team. From his childhood as a Norwegian immigrant playing football on the sandlots of Chicago's Logan Square to his 13-year coaching tenure at Notre Dame, Rockne revolutionized the game and led his team to five undefeated seasons and the 1925 Rose Bowl championship."
Opening night is April 10. Performances continue to May 11.
Stef Tovar plays the title character. The cast also features Dennis Kelly as Walsh/Lars, Kate Fry as Bonnie, Starr Busby as Thelma, Ron Rains as Jimmy The Goat, Geoff Rice as Dorais and Brandon Dahlquist as George Gipp.
The company also includes Larry Adams, Matt Raftery, Kent Haina, Jackson Evans, Tim Howard, Brandon Koller, Kevin Durnbaugh, Jarrod Zimmerman, Adam Jeffrey Pasen, Phil Higgins, Eric Lindahl (the Rockne understudy), Kelli Morgan, Caryn Ott, Anne Acker, Eleni Kanalos, Liam Byrnes, Darragh Quinn Dolan and Daniel Coonley.
The creative team includes associate choreographer/dance captain Matt Raftery, music director/conductor Valerie Maze, set designer Alan Schwanke, lighting designer Jesse Klug, costume designer Nikki Delhomme, wig designer Kevin Barthel, sound designer Victoria DeIorio, props master Greg Isaac, technical director Ann Davis, stage manager Rita Vreeland and production manager Chuck Gessert.
Theatre at the Center is northwest Indiana's only Actors' Equity theatre.
The show's previous title was Rockne of Notre Dame. Bell is the busy writer, director and choreographer whose credits include The Hot Mikado and other productions at Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC. His work is often seen on stages in Chicago, as well.
Theatre at the Center's artistic director is Bill Pullinsi.
