Her husband is actor Matthew Bennett, who plays ship designer Thomas Andrews in Titanic on Broadway.
According to the Boneau/Bryan-Brown press office, Ms. Joiner, a native of Dublin, GA, received her training at University of South Alabama and the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City.
She is survived by her husband; their son, Jansen; her sisters, RoseAn Davidson of Macon, GA, and Jan Dillehay of Lawrence, GA; a brother, Sam Joiner of Coppell, TX; and her mother, Betty Rose Joiner of Dublin, GA.
A visitation service will be held 2-5 PM Jan. 9 at M.J. Smith Sons Funeral Home, 248 Prospect Park West, in Brooklyn. Burial will be 2 PM Jan. 10, 1999 in Modus, CT.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in her memory. Checks should be made payable to The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and sent to: The Dorrie Joiner Fund, c/o Abbeville Press, 22 Cortland Street, 32nd Floor, New York, NY 10007.
