Off-Broadway's FUE Cast Member and Drummer George Salazar Rocks Out With Playbill Video
13 May 2013
George Salazar, who can currently be seen in the Off-Broadway rock musical F#%king Up Everything, recently sat down with Playbill Video to demonstrate his skills as a performer — behind the drum set in FUE.
Salazar, who was also seen in the Broadway revival of Godspell, plays the drummer of few words in F#%king Up Everything. He is joined in the show by Max Crumm (Grease), Jason Gotay (Bring It On), Lisa Birnbaum, Dawn Cantwell, Katherine Cozumel and Douglas Widick.
F#%king Up Everything is billed as a "rock musical comedy with heart. Set in today's Brooklyn indie music scene, it is an old-fashioned boy-meets-girl love story for the 21st century. When these hipsters aren't true to who they are, they screw up everything. Especially love. And no one screws up more than children’s puppeteer Christian Mohammed Schwartzelberg when he meets singer-songwriter Juliana, the girl of his dreams."
The new musical has music and lyrics by David Eric Davis and a book by Sam Forman and Davis. It is directed and choreographed by Jen Wineman with orchestrations and music supervision by Matt Hinkley and music direction by Eli Zoller.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
