The cast also features Haven Burton (Shrek, Legally Blonde) as Princess Fiona, Todd Buonopane (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Grease) as Lord Farquaad and Alan Mingo, Jr. (The Little Mermaid, Rent) as Donkey.

Rob Ashford co-directs the tour with original Broadway director Jason Moore; choreographer is Josh Prince. The production includes revisions made since the Broadway run. Opening night is scheduled for July 25.
Shrek — which is based on based on the story and characters from William Steig's book and the DreamWorks Animation film of the same name — features a book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Olivier Award winner Jeanine Tesori.
Shrek the Musical played its final performance at the Broadway Theatre on Jan. 3, 2010, following 441 performances and 37 previews. The title role was created by Brian d'Arcy James, who co-starred opposite Tony winner Sutton Foster.
The musical, studded with R&B, jazz, rock, power ballads and old-fashioned show tunes, received eight 2009 Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, winning Best Costume Design of a Musical (Tim Hatley). The show also received three Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Musical (Brian d'Arcy James), Outstanding Set & Costume Design of a Musical (Tim Hatley); and four Outer Critics Circle Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Musical (Brian d'Arcy James), Outstanding Actress in a Musical (Sutton Foster), Outstanding Set & Costume Design (Tim Hatley).
