Olivier-Nominated Comedy Eric and Little Ern to Return to London for Season at St. James Theatre
22 May 2014
Eric and Little Ern, an homage to the legendary British comedy double act of Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise, is to return to London, beginning performances Dec. 16 prior to an official opening Dec. 17 for a limited four-week Christmas season through Jan. 11, 2015, at the St. James Theatre.
It was previously seen in the West End at the Vaudeville Theatre in 2013, where it was Olivier-nominated for Best Entertainment.
In the show, created and performed by Ian Ashpitel and Jonty Stephens and featuring classic material by Eddie Braben, Dick Hills and Sid Green, some of the finest moments of Eric and Ernie's television and stage performances are recreated with new material created by the performers.
It is directed by Owen Lewis and produced by Seabright Productions.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
