Lauren Samuels, who was one of the final three contestants in BBC TV's "Over the Rainbow" search for a young woman to play Dorothy in next year's West End production of The Wizard of Oz, will make her West End debut, taking over the role of Sandy in Grease at the Piccadilly Theatre.

She will begin performances July 26, coinciding with the show celebrating its third birthday in the West End (where it began performances July 25, 2007). She replaces Siobhan Dillon, and joins Noel Sullivan, who continues as Danny, with Siubhan Harrison also newly joining the show to play Rizzo.

Samuels, who trained at Guildford School of Acting and last year made her professional stage debut as Wendy in the Christmas production of Peter Pan at Leicester's The Curve,  stated, "I am so unbelievably excited to be joining the wonderful cast of Grease. It was one of the first musicals I was taken to see as a young child and so to be given the opportunity to recreate the iconic role of Sandy and to make my West End debut in the show, is a dream come true. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!"

The current company also features Matthew Goodgame (Kenickie), Lucas Rush (Roger), Hayley Gallivan (Jan), Benjamin Ibbott (Doody), Faye Brookes (Frenchy), Bennett Andrews (Sonny), Robyn Mellor (Marty), Michael Vinsen (Eugene), Susannah Allman (Patty), Kerry Winter (Miss Lynch), Stephanie Powell (Cha Cha) and Jason Capewell (Vince Fontaine).

Grease is currently booking to Sept. 3, 2011. To book tickets, contact the box office on 0844 412 6666, or visit www.greasethemusical.co.uk for more details.
