Kicking off these broadcasts is a concert from Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series, Ring Them Bells! Rob Fisher Celebrates Kander & Ebb, which showcases the works of songwriting duo John Kander and Fred Ebb. The program will feature Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley, along with special appearances by Joel Grey and Chita Rivera, in a revue conceived and conducted by Rob Fisher. Crossover sensation Josh Groban, who starred in New York and London concert stagings of Chess, will be seen in concert April 12 at 9 PM ET.
Opera singer Stephanie Blythe will offer an up-close look at works made famous by the late singer Kate Smith, whose voice helped both comfort and galvanize the nation during World War II. Stephanie Blythe: We’ll Meet Again – The Songs of Kate Smith will air April 19 at 9 PM ET.
The New York Philharmonic staging of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel, featuring Kelli O’Hara as Julie Jordan and Nathan Gunn as Billy Bigelow, will be directed by John Rando. Rob Fisher will conduct the orchestra. The classic musical will air April 26 at 9 PM ET.
A concert evening with five-time Tony winner Audra McDonald will be broadcast May 24 at 9 PM ET.
