PHOTO CALL: Ann Crumb, Kevin Earley and Jenny Gelwick Cruise Sunset Boulevard in Denver

Tony Award nominee Ann Crumb (Anna Karenina, Aspects of Love) dons Norma Desmond's turban in the Denver-area regional premiere of Sunset Boulevard at the Arvada Center. The production also stars Kevin Earley (Broadway's Les Misérables, Tale of Two Cities) as Joe, Jenny Gelwick as Betty Schaefer and Stephen Day as Max.

Based on the 1950 Billy Wilder movie with the same title, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard, with book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton, tells the tragic tale of has-been silent film star, Norma Desmond—stalled in the past and isolated in her dilapidated mansion—and her entanglement with a young screenwriter, Joe Gillis.

The show, which opened on Broadway in 1994, has not been seen in the Denver area since 1996 when the national touring production was launched from the Temple Buell Theatre.

Here is a look at the staging:

Director Rod A. Lansberry's cast features Ann Crumb as Norma Desmond, Kevin Earley as Joe Gillis, Jenny Gelwick as Betty Schaefer, Stephen Day as Max, Mark Rubald as Cecil B. DeMille, and Jeremy Sortore as Artie.

The production runs through Oct. 10. For tickets, call the Arvada Center box office at (720) 898-7200, log on to or visit the Arvada Center box office at 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, CO.
