Haley Swindal, who was seen on Broadway in Jekyll & Hyde, offered Play To Win, a solo show about her musical career — which spans from Carnegie Hall to Yankee Stadium — April 8 at 54 Below. Jekyll and Hyde co-star Constantine Maroulis, along with Billy Crystal, Gabourey Sidibe and more came out to show their support for Swindal.
Play to Win, according to press notes, "tells the story of Haley's quirky journey charting her own path in the arts, using all that she learned from the passion and perseverance of her greatest influence: her grandfather, Yankees owner and consummate New Yorker, George Steinbrenner. With a mix of Broadway, folk, rock, and some zany stories along the way, Play to Win blends a little baseball with a lot of life and love."
Here's a look at the guests visiting with Swindal after the performance:
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
