Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien (The Coast of Utopia, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Hairspray) directs the Cincinnati-set play that began previews Nov. 5. The work had its world premiere last winter at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.
Butz (Speed-The-Plow, Catch Me If You Can, Wicked) stars as Jack, with Holmes ("Dawson's Creek," "Pieces of April," "The Ice Storm") as his skeptical sister Lorna.
Here's how the play is billed: "Jack's unexpected return throws his family into a frenzy, and his sister Lorna needs answers. Is he coming home or running away? Where is his wife everyone hates? And how did he get all that money? Theresa Rebeck’s new comedy tackles the timely issues of corporate greed, small town values, and whether or not your family will always welcome you back… with no questions asked."
The design team includes Tony nominee David Rockwell (scenic design), five-time Tony winner Catherine Zuber (costume design), David Weiner (lighting design) and Mark Bennett (sound design, original music).
Dead Accounts is produced by Jeffrey Finn, John N. Hart Jr., David Mirvish, Amy Nauiokas, Ergo Entertainment, Harriet Newman Leve, Double Gemini Productions, 3toGo Entertainment and The Shubert Organization.
Rebeck was a Pulitzer Prize finalist as the co-author of Omnium Gatherum. Her plays also include Bad Dates, The Scene and The Understudy and more. She has also authored the feature films "Harriet the Spy" and "Gossip," and earned a Peabody Award for "NYPD Blue." She is the creator of the NBC musical series "Smash."
