Immediately following the March 7 curtain call of After Midnight, audiences were treated to a special performance of "Hallelujah" by k.d. lang.
Following the curtain call, cast member Dule Hill took to the stage to welcome to the stage the Tony Award-winning chairman of The Actors Fund, Brian Stokes Mitchell. Mitchell explained that The Actors Fund had received a call from a supporter who would pledge a $10,000 donation if they could arrange for k.d. lang to perform her iconic rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" on stage. k.d. agreed, and took to the stage for a special encore, which was received with an immediate standing ovation.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
