New York's cabaret community celebrated the life and legacy of the late Donald F. Smith May 22 at The Town Hall in an evening titled Remembering Donald Smith — A Memorial Concert.

The free concert featured the talents of Karen Akers, Christine Andreas, Ann Hampton Callaway, Barbara Carroll, Baby Jane Dexter, Michael Feinstein, Jeff Harnar, Andrea Marcovicci, Marilyn Maye, T. Oliver Reid, Steve Ross, Craig Rubano, Billy Stritch, Jennifer Sheehan, KT Sullivan and Ronny Whyte.

Donald F. Smith, executive director and founder of The Mabel Mercer Foundation, passed away in March. He created the New York Cabaret Convention 27 years ago. For many years it was held at Town Hall, a building he was instrumental in preserving as a New York City landmark.
