20 Feb 2014
LezCab, the only cabaret series by, for, and about queer women held its first cabaret of the year Feb. 16 at the Stonewall Inn. The show featured songs from beloved musicals including Next to Normal, Once, The Sound of Music, 42nd Street and more.
LezCab favorites performing this month included Holly Marie Dunn, Marie Eife, Emily Grosland, Jami Leigh Howard, Kristen Rose Kelly, Erin Maya, Julia Osen Averill, Corynne Peters, Caitlin Lee Reid and more.
LezCab seeks to produce and host musical theatre events that celebrate queer women in the musical theatre community, raising awareness of the general lack of representation, and giving a voice to this underserved community.
LezCab is currently produced by Rachel Kunstadt and Teresa Lotz, hosted by Arielle Harding, directed by Rachel Kunstadt and music-directed by Julianne B. Merrill.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
