"SNL" star Molly Shannon made her Broadway debut and began her 11-week engagement as "Marge MacDougal" in the Broadway revival of Promises, Promises on Oct. 12.
The Emmy Award-nominated comedienne succeeds Tony Award-winning actress Katie Finneran in the Broadway revival of Promises, Promises. Finneran earned a 2010 Best Featured Actress Tony Award for her portrayal of the amorous, booze-loving Marge.
Shannon will depart the production Dec. 26, which will also mark the final performances of Tony and Emmy winner Kristin Chenoweth and her Tony-nominated and Emmy Award-winning co-star, Sean Hayes.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
