The evening featured cocktails, dinner and remarks by some of the honorees' friends and collaborators.
"This year's gala will pay tribute to two men who have made lasting impressions on the history, artistry, and physical home of Signature Theatre: Ruben Santiago-Hudson and Michael R. Bloomberg," press notes state. "Both honorees embody the spirit of community and partnership that for two decades has been at the core of the Signature mission to honor and celebrate the playwright. Ruben, who has been a friend to Signature both onstage ( August Wilson's How I Learned What I Learned) and as a director ( The Piano Lesson, My Children! My Africa!), has brought many meaningful works to life on Signature stages; and Signature Theatre wouldn't be in its home at The Pershing Square Signature Center without Mr. Bloomberg's leadership, generosity, and guidance."
The evening was co-chaired by Signature trustees Leslie E. Bains and Edward Norton.
