PHOTO CALL: Tony Winner Laura Benanti Finds "the Right Kind of Attention" in Orlando
19 May 2014
Tony winner Laura Benanti brought her solo show, entitled In Constant Search of the Right Kind of Attention, to the Mad Cow Theatre as part of the 12th Annual Orlando Cabaret Festival May 9-10.
Based on her debut CD, recorded live in concert at 54 Below and released by Broadway Records, the shows featured "not only her favorite theatre numbers, new versions of contemporary hits and original songs, but also personal anecdotes and revealing stories about her life and career."
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
