PHOTO EXCLUSIVE: Four of NYC's LGBT Choruses Raise Their Voices in Song With First-Ever Joint Concert
06 Jun 2014
On May 31, four of New York City's LGBT choruses gathered for their first-ever joint concert at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The evening featured the voices of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus, The Stonewall Chorale, Empire City Men's Chorus and Lavender Light.
NYCMC member Michael Dekker documented the special evening in this exclusive photo gallery for Playbill.com as part of our 30 Days of Pride coverage.
"I've had the privilege of singing and photographing the New York City Gay Men's Chorus for the past five years and this concert was a highlight for me in both regards," Dekker said. "Being able to sing in such a magnificent cathedral was a wonderful experience. "
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
