PHOTO EXCLUSIVE: "From the Wings!" Company Manager Offers a Never-Before-Seen Backstage Look at Broadway's Rocky

The new Broadway musical Rocky took home a Tony Award for Best Scenic Design. Company manager Kate Egan shares these exclusive backstage photos and reveals the secrets behind some of the show's technical magic.
Rocky changes from a proscenium setting to 360 degrees for the final fight as the Winter Garden is transformed into Philadelphia's famed Spectrum. The Jumbotron video is live every performance, fed by cameras operated by cast members.
Rocky, according to press notes, "brings to life the iconic and inspiring story of struggling small time Philly boxer, Rocky Balboa, who gets a once-in-a-lifetime shot to go the distance against heavyweight champ Apollo Creed. Both an adrenaline-infused spectacle and a surprising story of blossoming romance between two lonely outsiders, Rocky is a heart-stopping and viscerally theatrical new musical for everyone brave enough to follow their dream."
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
