PHOTO EXCLUSIVE: "It's Getting Hot in Here!" The Best Moments of Broadway's Sexiest Group, The Skivvies
11 Jul 2014
Since their inaugural concert in the summer of 2012, The Skivvies have gained a loyal following, played dozens of shows and welcomed a wide roster of scantily-clad guests. Led by Lauren Molina and Nick Cearley, Broadway's sexiest group shows no signs of slowing. We've compiled a selection of our favorite moments with The Skivvies.
"We cannot believe how much has happened in the last 2 years," says the duo. "We are so thankful to everyone, especially Playbill, for continuing to support us on our journey to make the world happier thru music. We hope to make more music videos, plan more tour dates, create an album and have a pilot for a TV show within the next year!"
Actor-musicians Lauren Molina (Sweeney Todd, Marry Me a Little) and Nick Cearley (All Shook Up) are the duo behind The Skivvies, known for their acoustic performances of pop songs, wearing nothing but their underwear. Molina, Cearley and their guests play instruments ranging from the cello, ukulele, guitar and glockenspiel to the melodica.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
