13 Oct 2013
Diana Puertas: Lea Salonga. She's my biggest musical theatre role model. I was 11 years old when I first heard her sing "A Whole New World" when she was Jasmine's singing voice. I would love to hear everything she's ever done live. Everything from Les Misérables all the way down to her Disney appearances.
Lea Salonga is a Tony Award winner for her performance in Miss Saigon. She has also been seen on Broadway in Les Misérables and Flower Drum Song. She voiced the role of Princess Jasmine in Disney's "Aladdin," in which she sings "A Whole New World."
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
